This course focuses on product selection, substrate preparation and how environmental factors all play a role in successful waterproofing applications. Knowing what to use when can make the difference between a long-protected vessel and one that fails in the near to intermediate term.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Identify Concrete Surface Profiles and how to adjust up or down if the existing substrate is too low or too high, respectively.
- Discuss other substrate and environmental factors such as existing penetrating sealers (e.g., colloidal silicates), surface temperature, air temperature, sun exposure, wind, rain, dust control, substrate moisture content and substrate alkalinity
- .Identify solutions to common problems including shrinkage cracks, rebar bleedthrough, efflorescence, delaminations between substrate and waterproofing, between two or more waterproofing layers, or between waterproofing and scratch coat or thinset.
- List common mistakes pool contractors make in regards to waterproofing and identify top tips that will help make a project more successful.
