The Virginia Graeme Baker Pool & Spa Act changed on May 24, 2021. This webinar provides an overview of the changes to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Standard, ANSI/APSP/ICC-16 2017 that are impacting new and existing suction outlet fitting assemblies. The role and responsibilities of the Registered Design Professional changed significantly, removing their authority over field-built sumps protected by manufactured drain covers. Changes also add new certification requirements for large area grate-type outlets designed and certified, (or renewed) by a P.E. or Architect.

- Compare key policy differences between the predecessor standard ASME/ANSI A112.19.8 2007 and the successor standard ANSI/APSP/ICC-16 2017.
- Identify VGBA-2017 compatible drain covers for use over new and existing sumps based on sump depth, pipe size, pipe orientation, installation location, and the system's maximum operating flow rate.
- Review the impact of Entrapping Force Criterion changes that lower previous VGBA flow ratings for all large area grates certified by Registered Design Professionals.
- Discuss new sump certification requirements that preempt the need for, and authority of, a PE sign-off; changes that apply to both manufactured and field-built sumps.
