WATERSHAPE UNIVERSITY CURRICULUM AND CREDENTIALS


Watershape University offers educational programs and credentials across all key aspects of designing, engineering, and building recreational and decorative aquatic systems.

Created to meet a spectrum of instructional needs and deliver critical information across multiple user “channels,” some WU credentials can be completed entirely online and at your own pace, while others might require a combination of self-directed work online, as well as in-person instruction (when available).

Below you’ll find the course requirements for each WU Credential including appropriate registration and enrollment links, along with dates, events and locations for upcoming course presentations.

CREDENTIALS

Credentials and Digital Badges track a student's progress through Watershape University and the International Watershape Institute.

Credentials carry the following benefits:

  • Acknowledgement on the WU website, searchable by potential clients in your area.
  • Digital badge for your own website.
  • Downloadable certificate for your wall or presentation to potential clients.
  • Real-time online verification.

Upon credential qualification and payment of any applicable dues, WU will provide instructions for hosting your digital badges on your company's website and how to link them to our verification database.

INTRODUCTORY CREDENTIALS

Watershape University Student

Once you start down a path of study, becoming a member of the “Wolfpack” you are free to identify as a proud student of Watershape University. Inspire your co-workers and let your clients know that continuing education is important to you and your business, and that you are actively working to elevate your watershaping skillsets.

  • Attend any single WU Program; long or short, free or paid: The Wolfpack Archives are a great place to start, as they contain dozens of hours of free webinars on design, engineering, construction, and business.


Verified Watershape Foreman

The Verified Watershape Foreman (VWF) credential validates that the recipient has obtained sufficient knowledge necessary to supervise construction of basic pools, spas, and other waterfeatures. This designation is a prerequisite to most advanced credentials.

  • Construction 2111: Essential Pool Construction (22 hours training)

INTERMEDIATE CREDENTIALS

Verified Watershape Builder

The Verified Watershape Builder (VWB) credential confirms the recipient has obtained sufficient knowledge necessary to operate a watershape construction company, render proposed designs, estimate projects, and build basic pools, spas, and other waterfeatures.

  • Active Verified Watershape Foreman credential
  • Business 2611: Essential Business Workshop for Contractors (16 hours)
  • This course will be offered live, in person in Spring of 2022
  • Business 3451: Cost Estimating Workshop (8 hours)

Verified Watershape Designer

The Verified Watershape Designer (VWD) credential indicates the recipient has obtained sufficient knowledge necessary to professionally design pools, spas, and waterfeatures.

  • Active Verified Watershape Foreman credential
  • Design 1111: Essential Perspective Drawing Workshop (8 hours)
  • Design 2211: Essential Principles of Design Workshop (16 hours)
  • Design 2611: Essential Color, Materials & Textures Workshop (16 hours)
  • Design 2311: Essential Architectural Styles Workshop (16 hours)


EXPERT CREDENTIALS

Verified Watershape Professional

The Verified Watershape Professional (VWP) credential validates that the recipient has obtained sufficient knowledge necessary to operate a design/build firm capable of executing complicated pools, spas, and waterfeatures.

  • Active Verified Watershape Foreman, Verified Watershape Builder, and Verified Watershape Designer credentials
  • Engineering 4311: Advanced Fluid Engineering Workshop (16 hours)
  • Construction 4111: Advanced Pool Construction (24 hours)
Verified Watershape Company

Companies committed to pursuing continuing education and training may promote themselves using the Verified Watershape Company (VWC) digital badge. This is available only to companies that maintain a Verified Watershape Foreman (VWF) or higher level of credential in a leadership position within the company. This credential represents a company-wide, top-down commitment to continuing education.

  • The company shall maintain at least one Verified Watershape Foreman or higher level of credential in a leadership position.
  • Leadership positions include owners, directors, and managers.


INTERNATIONAL WATERSHAPE INSTITUTE

International Watershape Institute Membership

The International Watershape Institute (IWI) credential honors the those Verified Watershape Professionals that embody all that Watershape University professes: professional design, engineering, construction and business practices embraced at the highest level. Candidates are coached by existing IWI teammates while qualifications are verified through a rigorous vetting system.

IWI Professional Seal

All professionals in the International Watershape Institute receive a transparent PNG seal they may incorporate into their drawings, specifications, and other professional communications. The seal represents to clients and authorities having jurisdiction that this professional status has been obtained and maintained through continuing education.

 

Use of the seal requires adherence to our Code of Professional Practice. Professionals are required to note their expiration date to the right of the IWI logo and sign the document where appropriate.
